Caleb Simpson Mural
2024
The Brief
In April of 2024, my friends Sol and Haley asked me to paint a mural for a room they were redesigning in anticipation for their first baby to come. I spent five days living in their home, drawing sketches, determining color choices, picking out paint, and painting this mural.
The Press
On November 19, 2024, The New York Times published an article by Alix Strauss about Caleb Simpson—Haley and Sol’s roommate. Famous for going up to people in the street and asking, “Excuse me! How much do you pay for rent in New York?” Caleb was featured in the article, which focused on their apartment. A picture of my mural made the cut! It was published in print in the NYT December 1 Sunday Edition.

The Process
I made 10 sketches, selected colors with Haley and Sol, went to pick out paint chips, and spent four days painting the mural.
